At SHARE, Speech Therapy offers individual speech sessions tailored to meet the specific needs of children and adults. The main goal of speech therapy is to improve communication, and to improve the ability to understand and express thoughts, ideas, and feelings. Other benefits of speech therapy are intelligible speech so you can be understood by others, development of social skills, improve swallowing function, develop comprehension and listening skills, fluent speech, better quality of life, and greater self-esteem. Individual speech goals are revisited from time to time by doing periodic evaluations to determine how much progress is being made. The main causes of speech problems are: Developmental speech and language disorder, hearing loss, intellectual disability, extreme environmental deprivation, prematurity, auditory processing disorder, neurological problems, Autism, structural problems, apraxia of speech, and selective mutism. It is important to identify speech/language problems early to insure progress may be made as soon as possible.
SHARE is a not for profit organization; therefore, speech services are more affordable than at other locations in Glynn County. NO ONE IS TURNED AWAY DUE TO INABILITY TO PAY FOR SERVICES

- Speech Therapists hold licensure by the State of Georgia
- Speech Therapists are certified by the Professional Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- SHARE is a certified facility for Medicaid, Medicare, Amerigroup, Peach State, and multiple insurance companies
- Site visits by the State of Georgia are conducted on a periodic basis; therefore, SHARE must satisfy certain standards of excellent in order to meet certification requirements
